I did several post on my blog about some cars my dad and his best buddy built back in the early 1960's.

On the blog I have included some before and after shots of the cars and a little background on them.

Some of them are not real common cars to see built today (good and bad on that I suppose LOL).

First up is my dads 1953 Plymouth:

I don't have very much on this car...preview pic:

Next is my dads 1955 Chevy:

I have often thought about building one very similar to it...preview pic:

Next is Dave's (my dads best friend and a guy I have know my entire life) 1947 New Yorker...don't see many of these around on the HAMB.

Preview pic: I guess in todays world this would fall under daring to be different as a build choice.

Last up is Dave's 1952 Pontiac custom.

Preview pic: Pretty cool ride for hitting all the hot spots in DFW during the early 1960's!

Cool! It's always great to see a glimpse at what the "regular" guys were doing to their cars, "back in the day". It's so easy to quote an old magazine as a reference, when in all likelihood and much like today, the regular guy was on a hard core budget and just trying to end up with a nice car.

Nice cars. Seems that 57 Cadillac wheelcovers were the hot setup in that area.

Super cool pics. The Mopars seem so unusual for the day, but very neat to see done.

Cool photos. It's nice to see how it was really done back in that time period.

Yeah, its funny that they both had Mopars considering they became such die hard chevy guys.

They both got heavy into Corvettes in the late 60's and early 70's...I guess it was the Jan and Dean thing and the sign of times to have hot rod vettes.

They and all there buddies did get new Mopars in 68 in a strange twist of fate, but the money really went into the Corvettes.

I had a post about the Vettes along time ago on my blog:

I just found some pics of Dave's 58 with red lines and such, he started getting into going stock again when this pic was taken. The 55 was my dads. I am going to do a post on my blog on the 58 later this week.
