Northern California, don't know whose '34 it is, pretty cool, though.

I was spectating that day, I think it was Jungle's first time with the Chev, previously he had driven Brutus, which was there that day with Lew Arrington driving. Summer of '67

    Hi fellows,

I've been trying to get things arranged and have another group of slides for your entertainment. Some have been posted before, but the majority haven't . So apologies in advance if anyone is bummed about a repeat. Anyway, this group is from Amarillo TX in April of 1967. As I recall, this was ostensibly a Top Fuel meet but any other details have been long forgotten. I'm going to post all the views I have from there in slide order so you can see how things developed.

The first few views are of Connie Kalitta's Ford cammer in the pits, then some other pit views before moving onto the action. As usual, I only had one roll of film to shoot and these are the better ones that I have. I hope you'll enjoy them.

In this view, we see Connie in the orange sweatshirt laughing it up with the guys. I can't tell who the guy in the silver fire suit is. Any guesses?[IMG]

Another view of Kalitta's car. Isn't that John Mulligan looking this way while talking to Connie? The car on the right in the background looks like Ernie Spickler from Denver. [IMG]

  20. I think it's Connie in the fire suit. Excellent pictures btw and, thank you for sharing.

Bob Creitz is attending to his car before qualifying. He was definitely a character and always had some great stories. [IMG]

Another look at the Creitz and Greer AA/FD. The guy in the black sweatshirt is Wille Redford from Dallas who used to drive for the Carroll Brothers. The guy in the red shirt is painter Nat Quick from Oklahoma City. I believe the guy to the right of Willie in the black jacket is Ernie Spickler. [IMG]

Here's another view of Creitz's beautiful car. Old friends Willie and Bob converse while Nat Quick [IMG]
looks on. Willie was on Div 4 Tech Director Chuck Nelson's tech team. Hard to believe this was nearly 50 years ago.

Deloy Naeb from Brighton CO gets underway in his Corvette named the 'Pooch'. He had won the World Championship in Street Eliminator at Tulsa the previous year. [IMG] Is this the same car painted differently?

Kuehler and Abbott's AA/FD from Denver. That's Division 4 Director Dale Ham walking away. He always treated us kids with kindness and respect. A good guy for sure.[IMG]
