Having the car on display would be nice, but with Rick or Pete there with it makes the experience come alive. That tudor has meant a great deal to lots of people over the years. Rick looked a little surprised and somewhat humbled by the comments David Freiberger, on Saturday, made about how important the car was/is to him and how it effected his future career in our hobby. It really is a genuine icon. just look at how long the thread is and how it keeps bouncing back about the time we think it is over. Anybody agree?

A valid point duecemac, without the person the car is just a static display, that was part of my disappointment with the GNRS. I did manage to find Rick and his son in another building which made my day. The cars are extentions of the builders personalities.

  3. Definitely agree deucemac!!!!! Not only did that car inspire people of that era but also people from far away. It has a huge following here in New Zealand. It's one of my all time favourite cars and I'm honored to have got to know Pete and Rick and make the inspirational dream more of a reality.

This car inspired the genre of rodding I enjoy so much now. Btw I was 2 years old when the E&B car hit the scene! Here's my own roadster at the Nostalgia Drags weekend a couple of weeks ago - run 13.0 on Saturday then played tow car duty for NZs fastest female drag racer on the Sunday

I just want to make a point here. And that is I support Rick in his family obligations (they should always trump other things). Sooooooo, Pete pack your toothbrush Bro. Them folks in Missouri be a waitin! Rick can fill in next time.

  5. Call up Freiberger at Hot Rod and tell him that you want to drive the '32 cross-country to Pete and Jake's. I can almost guarantee you that he'll beg, borrow, and steal from the HRM brass to give you everything you need to make it happen. Have Dave ride shotgun, and then have him do a full-blown write-up in Hot Rod covering the adventure. That dude loves road trips, and this one would be epic.

Put some 3.00 gears in the rear and you're set!

Freiburger loves chopped sedans and owned a nice one a few years ago which he sold. He would let Thom go with you on the trip as a chaperone.

The tribute car will be there! I only live 8 miles from Pete&Jakes and will be driving it over for the open house. It would be cool to see the cars together.....

Well shoot I was just debating weather to go or not but if they roll that beast all the way to Missouri it would seem rude to not go!

Sorry to disappoint everyone but it looks like Pete won't be able to drive the Sedan to Pete & Jake's. It would take too long and like the rest of us, he has to work too. The good news is he will be flying in for the event. I should put the 3.00 gears in the Sedan and fix the windows anyway.

    Rick,

When did I say it would take to long to drive it there ?
Ya, I'm flyin' in, but I know you've seen me drive, and it would only take me a couple of days longer to "fly" there in the sedan !!

I guess it was my mistake that I thought it was the time factor that was preventing you from taking the Sedan. I'm wrong as usual.

    Pete,
We will go for a ride in the E&B Tribute Sedan!

  16. Well...dang it...if Pete's showing up in the sedan, I will have to boogie up there. It's a much more comfortable drive in the coupe, but the '40 stake truck will more than likely be the choice.

  17. So what's the latest on the Pete & Jake's open house?
