Technical ..54 corvette teeth on a 51 chevy coupe

Hello folks time for another random question.. I recently acquired a set 1954 Corvette Grill Teeth.. I was thinking about setting them into the grill of my 51 Chevy Coupe, I have more than I need, but I'm just wondering how I go about getting them in.. Has anyone done this to me 51 or 52 Chevy coupe before? I've seen a few 54 Chevy I think that had that..

One way or another something has to be cut or grinded down somewhere for fitting lol
I have spares experiments on as a worst case but id rather not..

but I'm really hesitant to touch anything just yet.

it would probably be easiest to make a new center bar for your grille that fits the profile of the teeth.

 

I thought about that, just wondering how difficult it would be to have one bent fitted and then Chromed... somebody else in the hot rods in my area mentioned possibly going at the teeth with a dremel.. But the way the lip is made on the grill I can't see it holding onto stable.

 

buy the corvette grill bar and use it $140

Chromer is going to want way more than that to do one...

 

Try mounting them off the back of the tooth, paint the mounting bar flat black for floating teeth. If you want the center bar, use the corvette if the width is close

 

I put a '53 car toothed grill bar in my '57 Chevy way back then. Parking lights and all.

I lacked two teeth of having it full before I totaled it!

Make it out of stainless, no chrome necessary. Less than $20 for scrap stainless then polish it out.

 

I wanted to do the same thing to my Chevy... just never got around to it yet. I think I remember that I just Google it and found a couple of pics on images. I also remember you could buy the whole corvette grill teeth and bar for around 375. My grill is painted same as the car and was going to just remove my center bar and teeth and mount it some how. Some day, anyway...good luck on your build.

 

I do work in a metal shop with access to stainless off cuts.. Ill give that a shot as soon as we hire a new guy for the press brake lol Thanks
