I'm at a loss - took it apart ( again! ), cleaned it all out thoroughly with carb cleaner & air lined it right thru & it started up & ran fine....

Interesting - on mine, when the cam starts to open the secondaries, the pump pushes down, not up ... unless I received it with the cam set up...
Definitely not the former, only the pump on the other side does that BUT you may have inadvertently solved the puzzle because the dashpot goes...
The accelerator pump is the other side ... & 3 different parts instructions list it as a dashpot.
I thought the same initially but is a dashpot I thought the same but pump is the other side & 3 parts leaflets list it as a dashpot.
