What process are you using for adjusting the valves? Also check the oil for any "glitter" on the oil stick.

To remain thrifty, I'd look for the compression you want in the heads over shaving the block and heads. Smaller chambers and a shim head gasket....
I'm a scallops fan but that wasn't the question asked. Flames and pinstripes used sparingly.
Loyds, At least you caught the mistake. Someone somewhere would have "Made" those parts work in the engine and had a huge failure upon start up. :eek:
I have not used citric acid, but have with good results used vinegar. A big tote or Rubbermaid container works well. Just don't be in a hurry.
