30 Model A Roadster Build
The front end is going to stay. It has already been converted over to the small bolt pattern with spindles and such although the cobbled backing plates with the booger welds have got to go. A special thanks goes out to Gary (a.k.a. Grits) for generously donating a set of hydro backing plates to this project. What a guy! Since the bones are going to be split, I peeled the rubber ball off and it too is going to Wayne, the new owner of the old chassis.

My friend is also taking the 36 rear end with the 411 gears, shortened torque tube and hacked rear bones... he's got a lead on a 40 rear end we can trade for once we can get to it when the snow melts. This is the last time all these parts will be together.

30 Model A Roadster Build
Here is the old 36 frame in all it's cobbled glory. A friend came by and fell in love with it and has since taken it home. He is mulling over what do do with it but saw a piece of hotrod history where I saw a cobbled death trap. I'm glad that it will live on... even if he disagrees with the direction I'm taking the roadster.

30 Model A Roadster Build
After a lot of cussing and jumping from side to side to ease the a-frame past the body and over the waiting gurney, I was finally able to set the body down and get my first real look at the extent of the damage. I need to replace the bottom of every panel AND replace the subframe. The original builder hacked it all out to channel the body. I'm still in love though, so I am not dissuaded.

The plan was to position my trusty a-frame hoist over the body, hoist it up and then pull the a-frame forward over the gurney. Two problems - the a-frame doesn't roll so well anymore, I need to put new casters on. And I should have turned the car around to remove the body backwards. Duh! Live and learn.

the gurney - I made this movable table years ago to cart my Essex body around. I tore it all apart and remade it into a mobile work table that is a lot sturdier. Space is at a premium in my little garage and it helps to be able to move things to the side.

Braced across the door gaps (don't have both doors yet) and a horizontal brace between those - I'm really glad I put that piece in. Once the body was in the air it wanted to fold like a taco and would have if not for that brace!

Check out the way the rear wishbone was cut and rewelded to shorten the 37 frame so it would work under the A. Scary.

31 Ford Erased 3
Looks like a nice project and priced right, nothing wrong with a 4 door [IMG]
I restored this '67 Taco 22 to use as a pit bike at Bonneville. I can no longer ride it after back surgery, so it's off to a new home. Fun while it lasted!
The Taco is now in the collection of former Speedway stat Gene Woods. It got a good home.
