28 Jalopy racer
the quarters and fill panel I started with. This is all there was to it in the beginning. The cowl was left-over from another purchase and the frame from another project isn't in this pic.

Sandy Belond's Muffler Shop roadster
Sandy's roadster is a '31 on '32 rails with a modified wheelbase and highly modified front and rear crossmembers. The engine is based on a production '40 Merc but was built by Sam Hanks who replicated a Miller Ford Indy engine. It features a Miller crank, Eddie Meyer dual plug heads with custom chambers to match the Bohn-A-Lite flat top pistons, a one off Thickstun/Radke 4X2 IR intake manifold; ignition is a modified Nash Twin 8 distributor driven through a Bugatti Scintilla angle drive adapter and of course a set of Belond W headers with tapered scavenger extensions.

My Dad's 777ag was finished in '48 and he street raced it until the mid 50's all over Southern CA. My uncle Ron, my Dad's youngest brother, swears up and down to this day that this car was the inspiration for Tony Nancy's first 22 because they would go up to the San Fernando Valley and whoop the crap out of Tony's '32 coupe. My Uncle Ron was a good friend of Tony's and the 777 was sold to one of Tony's buddies in the SFV in '58 and it took me until a few years ago to re-locate it and buy it back from an oil field mechanic in Texas. I never knew how cool Dad was until I started studying some of his cars. This car started out with flatheads and he tossed an Ardun with a blower in it for awhile and a 180 degree crank, that combo scattered when Nitro was added. Then a Hilborn injected, nitro burning Cadillac was run and finally the Red Ram injected and later blown. The car was a combination of '28AR and '29 parts. Originally it had a 3/4 ton truck floating rear axle with a Franklin box converted to center steer and a LaSalle trans. Later it was updated with a Halibrand big car center steer unit, a Halibrand Champ quick change with Ford large truck floaters and Halibrand spot disc brakes on the rear. It was state-of-the-art in its day. It was run at the Smokers events at Taft, before Famoso, and at Famoso but not many other events because Dad said there was no money to be made on the drag strips; the real money was made on the streets.

The Jim Harber collection
Harber towing from San Berdoo to El Mirage with a rope. Eventually it ran 124.00 (I think) in '48. The engine was pulled and went into his Belly Tank. It ran 164.00, then he sold the tank to Scotty and the engine went into Harber's '41 pickup. His wife drove the pickup with the 164 mph engine in it while Jim was stationed in Saudi Arabia during the Korean War.

31 Ford Erased 3
Looks like a nice project and priced right, nothing wrong with a 4 door [IMG]
I restored this '67 Taco 22 to use as a pit bike at Bonneville. I can no longer ride it after back surgery, so it's off to a new home. Fun while it lasted!
The Taco is now in the collection of former Speedway stat Gene Woods. It got a good home.
