      Yep its the Jeffe method. What I learnt was that is acutualy took out some of the curve after it was welded. I had to cut it a couple more times. I supposed experience will get you to have more curve at the beginning.

      Tony, would it have helped keep the shape if you tacked it to the frame and then did most of the cut welds? Or at least the ones that are accessible...

      You could make your self a jig on your table and tack it to the jig
      and it won't move.

      Good idea Joe. I never thought of that. I could have tacked it to the table itself. It moved on the cuts that I couldn't get to on the car. The ones I could get to didn't move.

      If'n you make your cuts on the inside of the bend, your welds would actually draw the "bend" in more as it cooled. And you would not have the extra gaps to fill. Is there a structural reason to make the cuts on the outside?
