Just ran into a friend of mine at the car wash... He was in his perfect '56 survivor. I love the stance. I'll get more pics next time I get a chance. Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
Those hubcaps need to find their way onto a few more customs. Love the color combo. Not a car you see every day. Thanks!!
One of my favorites! I drove a 56 Merc Montclair 2dr Hrdtp in High school. I skipped school one day and was out cruising in my Bro's 69 Barracuda. I spotted it sitting at a gas station in Detroits east side with a for sale sign in it. Black body with a black rolled interior.(including the dash pad). 312.4 barrel with a Merc-o-Matic trans. Reverse was all the way past L. I fell in love with my HS sweetheart in that car. Drove it for about 6 years and never saw another one on the the road. Good time. Great memories... Torchie.
I got my drivers license on a '56 Merc. The same colors but a Monterey Pheaton, (a true 4 door H/T.) As a 14 year old, I still remember being at the dealer when my parents bought it off the showroom floor. Great car.
What really separates this car from the ordinary is not what it has...but what it hasn't got: red wheels, pin striping, hanging dice, lakes pipes, funky skirts and an overly low stance. This guy "gets it", and as a result his car is pure class all the way.
Nice! I just bought a 56 Mercury Montclair Pheaton. Love it. I had a 57 Crown Victoria in High school and have been looking for another one that I could afford for two years. Found out real quick that they were way out of my price range. Found this 56 Merc and fell in love with it. It is mechanically all original but, the old hydraulic brakes are to hard for my little wife to operate. I want to remove the front drums and convert to disc. Anyone have any pointers that they want to share?
brushycreek, they should be the same as a Ford & there should be several posts about doing disk brakes. There is a forum site called yblocksforever.com that is nothing but stuff like that. I have a 56 Ford with non-powered drums & it stops fine. To make it easier to push the pedal you'll have to make it power brakes. That's doable too.
Here is a picture of me and my '56 Merc back in 1962. That's me sitting on the passenger side of the car! I also had a '55 Merc wagon.
just finishing one up here at Adler Ind. Waiting on interior Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
Anybody know where we can find a radio and an air conditioning unit? Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
With a good set of shocks and tires those cars had a nice ride for their size and I love the special sound of that starter and y-block with mild glass packs....windows down at night.
