I have finally worn out my BFG 285/70x15's on my hiboy. I am thinking about changing to 265/75x15 instead because; 1. they are cheaper 2. I want a slightly skinnier tire to look less cartoonish Has anyone used these on the back of their car? A lot of the ones I have looked at have a pretty aggressive tread. I don't want it to look like I have snow tires on the back. Or should I just bite the bullet and buy the BFG 285/70x15's?
Mainly, the BFG LongTrail T/A Tour, but I have looked at others. Just online, I have not seen any in person.
another one is the Firestone Destination LE. I have 145x15's Firestones on the front so these might match;
I've used the BFG Trail Tours in the 265-70 and 75 versions in place of the 285's with good results on 7 and 8 inch wheels. On my track roadster I ran pressures around 18 to 20 pounds with no problems. Charlie
I think Charlie has the right idea with 265s on a 7 or 8 inch wheel. Not sure they would look right on your 10 inch wheel. Would be a shame to have to buy yet another pair of wheels just for the desired change. By the way, nice cabriolet.
You might be right about the wheel width. Specs say 7 to 9 inch wheel. I was hoping someone would already have some mounted up so I could see what they looked like.
I switched some time ago (after BFG quit making them, and before they were available from specialty vendors). If you don't know exactly what you are looking for, it's unlikely you will be able to tell the difference. I run them on eight inch wheels.
lothiandon1940!...Thanks I had OG 16" wide whites before I changed to the radials. At first I thought they were to much but after I got use to it I think they are just rite.. It drives really well now...
Here's my coupe with 265's. Uniroyal. Love the 265's. 235's are nice but still not tall enough in my mind, pending on the car.
Looks good. I was going to order that same size BFG's for my pickup, but I found some serviceable L-60's for the rear. For wheel size, I have 15x8.5 in the rear, & 15x6 in the ft. Going to order a new pair of Pro-Tracs for the front (235-60-15)
