Hey guys I brought home my first model A yesterday! Been a long time coming. I am so happy I feel like a little kid on Christmas morning. Have a few projects already in mind. I want to move fuel tank from cowl to behind seat and along with that convert rumble seat to trunk. What does everyone think, chop it or leave it un chopped? I've always thought I would say chop it but now that I have this awesome car sitting in my garage I'm on the fence. Looks perfect as is. I know I'll get bashed for it but I think if the look is good don't chop it. It's refreshing to see unchopped ones at shows.

Looks good as is except for the air cleaner and the Pabst can on the dash.

Why don't you go for a ride and pick up a new shift knob while you're out?

Looks good the way it is. Just change the air cleaner and drive the wheels off it.

A 10" helmet air cleaner or a Cal Custom frog-mouth scoop would be great choices. I don't hate the valve covers, but the shift knob is dorky and so is the license plate frame in the back.

Those are the only changes I would make, based on what I can see. Gas tank behind the seat for what reason? If there's a good reason for that, I guess go for it, but I don't see why. Rumble lid and roof height are nice, avoid making changes just for the sake of making changes, it doesn't need it. Looks good.

Ya I was thinking about changing the shift knob and puke tank too. I actually really like it unchopped. The air cleaner is not my cup of tee as well but I literally just brought it home.

Oh and yes the seat needs to be upholstered. It's just a blanket thrown over it right now

Nice coupe. I agree with the others, ditch the air cleaner and beer can. I like the rumble seat, why change the fuel tank if there's no issue the way it is. I like it unchopped also but gotta say a subtle 2" chop would look killer too.

The car is awesome, If you really don't like the original gas tank, a 32 tank looks really cool on a A with fenders. The rumble seat is classic, besides that you may want to carry 4 people. It does not actually need anything.

  22. Fantastic! You just need the car to tell you what it wants.
It's just about Period perfect right now.
Get the helmet air cleaner, Loose the Pabst shifter even though That's what we were drinking in Kingston in the early 60's when it looks like your car was built!
Maybe loose the hubcaps if you want a little more "bad boy" look.
    Killer car!

  23. Welcome from southern Minnesota, I vote for a 4" chop, that'll be just right.

I would leave the roof alone, but I would change the rumble for the trunk.
As a matter of fact, I just changed my coupe over.

Anyone local want a rumble seat "kit"? Cheap.

Really sharp little Abone. If you've never owned a car with a rumble seat I believe over time you'll feel it's just about a useless as tit's on a bore hog. If you actually get anyone to ride back there (with the exception of small children) don't expect to be asked for a second ride. It severely limits luggage space and you'll soon tire of hoisting any luggage you need to carry over the quarter panel (about the second deep scratch in the paint will have you investigating the change to a trunk).

  29. I like it unchopped, full fendered with the rumble , but them I'm a bit prejudiced.

And if you put the tank behind the front seat its easier to fill with the way the rumble lid flips, just remove the cushions.

  30. Another vote for no chop...leave the fenders , ditch the rumble. Congrats, I know how you're feelin'... Got my first Model A 2 weeks ago..
