Its threads like these that make me wanna mess with the stocker I picked up... I love the stance and the 3" chop looks just right.. nice proportions all around

I Have a tudor stocker, just bought it and being new to hotrods this came up searching for drop and mechanical brakes.
Almost making me wan't to keep the fenders ...!

Forgive my ignorance,
When you say he stretche dropped the axle, is it 4" lower than it was stock, or is the distance from the top of the pin boss to perch hole 4"?

I am thinking I am going to do this. But want my terminology correct.

 

When an axle is dropped the normal way, it gets narrower. The process makes the spindle closer to the wishbone boss.

Oakie joes will drop the axle but also pull the axle longer so that after the drop is finished, the track width is the same as stock, but the car sits lower.

 

You said you had a T rear spring out back, what brand is it? Where did you get the spring? And besides having to remove some leaves did you have to do any other modifications to the spring to install it and get it sitting where it is now?

 

The T rear spring brand is good ole' Ford Motor Company, circa 1926-ish. Found it at a swap meet. Pretty readily available around here. I just removed the top smallest leaf and then just swapped it out with the stock A spring.

I've never seen an understandable answer, anywhere.
And measured form the top of the spindle or the bottom or somewhere in between?

 

Stretch drop maintains the original width within 1/8 of an inch, while a conventional drop shortens the axle approximately 3/4 of an inch per side. This tighter curve in the axle allows less room for the stock steering arms. This is why a lot of people heat and drop their steering arms. If you don't have a torch, the stretch drop is easier to install and allow for steering.

And, for mechanical brake apps the stretch drop also maintains the proper mount distances for the actuator cross shaft as in the bottom pic above. (been mentioned before, but since we're restating......)

How did you spread the T spring to reinstall it? When I took my A spring out today it wanted to break my arm when I tapped the shackles out. I picked up a 8 leaf complete with the cross member that I will install in the 29 cc pu. You said you took out a couple leafs but used the upper short one from the A spring. i assume you did that so it fits in the a cross member tighter
