Projects Livin' The Dream. The Chemical City Coupe earns a Street Rodder Cover!!!

It's was a little over a year ago when Jokerr Fabrication and I started the build on the Chemical City Coupe.

At the time, we knew we had some great ideas on where we wanted to take the build and what we wanted to do with the car. Even with a solid plan, the thing just kind of took on a life of it's own. After a lot of "well, what about doing this?" and some "well, if we're going to do that, we should probably do this" talks, Jo and I were really pleased with the way the car turned out. The initial feedback on the car was good and it seemed to strike a chord with people.

That said, we never really expected this...

Several years ago I was lucky enough to have had a O.T. car featured in Hot Rod Magazine. While I thought maybe the coupe would be nice enough to get some print, I truly never thought it would garner this much attention.

I just want to take a few to thank Chuck Vranas and Brian Brennan of Street Rodder for making this happen. Chuck did an awesome job writing the article and Robert McGaffin's photography was stellar.

I also owe a big thanks to Jo Kerr for all his hard work on the car. Several other were also involved such as Josh Shaw, Keith (Rooman) Burgan, and Ryan Schon. I apologize if I have left anyone out.

The past summer has been great and I have loved taking the coupe to several shows. The fun I have had and the people I have met have been incredible.

Thanks to all the HAMB folk that have followed along and encouraged us along the way.

I truly am livin' the hot rod dream...

Gongrats on making the cover. I almost started a thread on it yesterday when I posted on the build thread after pulling the issue out of the mailbox. Its fun touil see that a car you followed the build process on get recognition.

  19. Dave - what a great thing to happen to you and your car! Always special to have a car documented in print for future generations to drool over.

Congratulations Dave. It was great seeing the CCC at Torque Fest. It's an awesome ride and certianly deserves to be on the cover. Couldn't happen to a nicer guy, too.

Hope to see you and your coupe at VTF 2014!

I always thought this car was headed for lots of recognition. What is really surprising is how something as simple a deck lid would put it over the top.:D
