Vintage shots from days gone by!

  1. I think this was the "Ford Flivver". Henry doesn't look too happy because it was an underpowered poor handling flop. He was trying to do with aircraft what he had done with the automobile...make it affordable. I believe he was the first to build concrete runways, though. He also got into a lawsuit with Junkers over his use of a corrugated fuselage on his famous Tri-Motors.

  3. Yup I'm pretty sure you are correct that it's his 'flying flivver'. I think I found that pic on either the LOC website or WSU/Detroit site and it mentioned his flivver. I also saw someplace where he installed a flathead V8 in a plane as well. Can't find any pics of it now though.

    While I don't know for sure where this is, I saw a scene virtually identical to this in the summer of 1960, in Denver, CO.

  9. C69?? Does anyone know the diff in these from the C121?

    The C69 was the standard Constellation where the C121/EC121 was the Super Constellation. The 121 had a lengthened fuselage and upgraded engines.
