Yep.... I guess you either love 'em or hate 'em. Most of the show customs back then were "over the top". Modern customs are worse.
I like this subject much more. There are so many choices so here is something simple that I can't help but love. Ron Dunn's Valley Customs built 50.
One of my favorites is the Larry Ernst 2nd version. This is the clone, as the original car has been restored back to the first iteration.
So many cars today have been built with styling from the Moonglow...especially the stacked teeth in the grill...one of my favorites...Thanks Autobilly.
Another one that has been posted a hundred times before, but by far my favorite custom of the 50s (...and the 60s... and of all time):
Growing up in Gardena Ca.the 50s I remember a guy that built a '54 Chevy with extensive customizing. The bodywork was done in Kaminishi's (sp.?)shop. It was strictly a show car As I remember. It was painter lime gold metallic and he named it "The Lime-gold Galleon". Anyone else remember it?
