I posted this in the Model A Crash thread over on the Fordbarn but since it seems to be a theme here recently, what the hell.

I share this following picture not out of some macabre sense of obtaining shock value but as a reminder that things can turn deadly in an instant.

The image is of an unknown bodystyle Model A that rolled over in 1933 in Washington.

I'm not going to post the image here but instead a link. I am warning you now, this link is graphic. If you are squeamish or easily offended by images of death, I would skip this link.

#82447-> I remember in Illinois and Iowa when we saved 5 cents a gallon if we pumped our own. Are we still saving?

They used to take the windshields out so you could see the actors and sometimes if they didn't do that they took the mirrors out so you didn't see a reflection of a gaffer or lighting man.

They also would spray the car and headlights with a flat finish so you didn't see the studio reflected in the body and the lights wouldn't be so bright.

  9. Yup, making a movie is what the caption said for the pic. It also said the front is up so the driver can imitate going around a corner by turning the steering wheel easily.

I could fix that with a piece of pipe.

  11. My highland dancing teacher said that in the 50's, you starched your freshly washed bra and dried it over funnels to get as pointy as possible....no thanks.

  12. The boat has a registration number out of Massachusetts and the Oldsmobile has a Massachusetts inspection sticker.
Maybe the Charles River Y.C in Watertown??

Sorta true. But, since most hotrodders started out with army air-corps surplus seats and the original air ride and super and turbo chargers were surplus airplane parts, I don't see a problem...

Please, for crying out loud, man, if you feel the need to constantly grab the microphone to add your minor comments over and over, can you at least learn how to reply WITHOUT making all the rest of us viewers have to re-load and scroll through all the pictures every time ?!?!?!?

Gallup, New Mexico. There is a decent chance that the 57 Oldsmobile that is second in line is our car. We went through Gallup in that car. Too bad I can't see the license plate to see if it is a Kansas plate.
