I used the Aerostar springs on my '59 edsel villager with a 332 it lowered it about 3-1/2 " .they work great had to trim the bump stops but even with 14" wheels I don't have any problems . Well except for the BIG speed bumps Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!

Nope it does fine going down the road last night took her out to a friends party . Road was kinda rough but still only hit the bumps when I was doin about 70 over a swail in the road 😈 Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
I just put a set of aerostar coils in my 57 and it's almost sitting on the bumpstops. what are you guys doing to keep it from bottoming on the stops?
This is what me and my son did for his 59 ranger with aero coils plus we cut 3/4 of a coil....... Simply raise the shock tower pocket in the frame then for extra measure we notched and boxed the a arm .... Monroe has a good web site with info that really helps those of us who are doing something other than stock. It gives shock numbers based on the length of the shock, end types and sizes, and it's easy to use. Ok, I have a 50s Ford and will be putting in Moog CC850 Aerostar springs. What shocks have the right specs without bottoming out? Saying 90's S10 is not enough. There are 2WD and 4WD options 4 and 6 cyl. Too many variables. Anyone that has them in and working great have the make and part number for the shocks they found works right? Thanks
The vega shocks (Monroe 5821) I used work great. It's just that the aerostar coils dropped my 59 Villager too much. I have 2.75 inches from the frame to the ground with a 24" tire. I'm going to try swapping to a 27" inch tire to get a tad over 4" inches of clearance but that's still pretty slammed. If that's not good enough, we'll try cutting an original coil, but still using these Monroe 5821's
When I had the CC850 springs in my '59, I used the 5821 shocks. I had to open the holes to slots since the bolt-spread is different. With the 15" tires the car was too low, I went back to my OG springs with 1 coil chopped off them.
Has anyone tried using air shocks front and rear on these cars? I'm not talking about for showing off or bouncing contests. I would like some control, depending on how the car was loaded. I had a car lowered only 1 1/2" that banged the bump stops with only three passengers. Also wondering if anyone has tried other sway bars (anti-sway). I have aero cc850's on my 56 and it only lowered it 2". I also put Toyota truck coil urathane spacers to level it. Stock shocks worked fine for me. Being a progressive spring took some getting use to on intersection drain bumps that didn't seem to bother the originals. I do like the rake with the rear being stock. Good luck.
