Probably weren't happy at all but it was probably all they could get. Now just for chits and giggles methanol is traditional and its not made out of food.
I wonder how long they used that sh_t, before it ate up all the diaphrams and fuel lines on those cars?
Who knew? Rumor has it that some of that East Tennessee "corn" was mixed with gasoline to up the octane rating and make it easier to outrun the Federales.
Corn Likker will definitely boost the octane,My granddad was in the illegal alcohol business most of his life and he lived less that 4 miles from the police department but having a son that was a motorcycle cop and the fact that he was a small time operator is probably kept him out of jail and under the radar of the revenuers. As for 10% alcohol being used in the past,,that's true but for some reason it didn't last. HRP
Happy or not...the fella on the right has a sweet moustache....just in time for MoVember!! Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
It probably didn't last for the same reasons a lot of us are bitching about it now. There's too much money involved with it now, for it to disappear.
