I have some cheapie glass packs on my f-600 ( 292 ) It sounds killer... so better mufflers would sound better... I like porters

Had them on my first car, a 56 Ford Fairlane. Absolutely loved the sound.Wind out to about 4500 rpm in first gear(3 speed) and let off the gas and listen to the music.. That was with tailpipes out the back. Leave them to dump straight out from under the floor and it sounds totally different.
Consider porters.. Few things are worth the price theses days . Porters are worth it. . Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
Had them on my first car, 1955 Town Sedan with a 272. BEST Sound ever. My 64 pu has a 292 with some of the IMCO brand, I think, and it sounds really good as well. Go with the Smithy's they won't disappoint!
my one has a early lincoln y block single smthey exhaust behind it. Friends say its the best sounding car arraound. more like a dee deep growl.
The Y block is pretty much the best sounding OHV engine you could have. Smittys, Brockmans, Cherry Bombs... they'll all sound great on that Y block. Just be sure to mount them forward towards the engine and they will snap and crackle as god intended
I went with my Dad to Speedway Motors in Lincoln, Ne. about 1954 and he bought a pair of Smithy's for his 48 Ford coupe, he said to me, these are the only real hot rod mufflers kid. It stuck with me and I just installed a set on my new motor conversion in my truck and love them! Thats my story and I am stickin to it! ~sololobo~
I am also running a warmed over y block and prefer the sound of the smithys.... any suggestions on length? Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
I have Smittys on a Y block and it sounds good. Mellow but not aggressive. As far as power goes I guess the question would be compared to what?
Maybe spelled that way, has been pronounced Smitty's since they came on the scene, at least on the East coast.
Grew up with a Smith family in the neighborhood (3 boys) Shmitty 1,Shmitty 2,Shmitty 3!! East Coast!! Pete X2 on the Porters!!
