Hey thanks Michael. It was great seeing Eric and you again. Sorry I didn't make it to see you Monday, the sedan was being a real cocksucker and cut the trip short. I can't thank Vince enough for letting me license in the roadster. How fucking cool is that?

Hope you guys sorted out your problems. Your roadster is looking really really bitchin. I saw it a couple times towing in and out, wish I could of looked it over up close.

    The Sedan Made It!!!

It made the one day 13 hour drive down but not without some mishaps. The "whore bitch" lived up to its name. It's witchcraft is not over yet.

Coming into Baker City, Oregon at a stop sign, the 1st-2nd gear shift rod fell out of the shift arm and hit the ground. A cotter pin fixed that.

Twin Falls, Idaho in heavy traffic with what seemed like 50 stop lights, it gets stuck in 3rd gear. Slip the clutch like a bastard to make it through. Some jackass (me) forgot to tighten up the shift arms.

Towards the end of the drive down the car seemed to have a problem loading up. I would lumber it along at speed in 4th gear and when I wanted to pass, it would fall on its face. I could rev it up and it would seem to go away. This started happening more and more driving around in Wendover and on the salt. Monday morning comes around and I'm heading to the salt and the thing just wont run over an idle. After many four letter words my dad tries to pull the cap off the magneto. Nothing!!!

The cap wont budge. We managed to get it to lift a little and could see it was the high tension wire. It had arced and welded itself to the cap. Well we can't do anything with that, we don't want to pull and ruin the internal coil. It still ran so we idled it out to the pits.

The decision was made to get a distributor, coil, and wires shuttle into town and swap out the mag. We left the salt at 3 and picked up the parts and headed to the casino the wire and mount up the coil, make up plug wires, and drop in the distributor and time it. Then left Tues. morning.

Sorry for the novel, I wouldn't blame you if you didn't read it.

Im in the middle of uploading some pics, so I will tell a little more on this years trip.

I got the opportunity to drive this year! I was a rookie driver. My friend Vince that has helped me a ton on the car also gave me a shot at driving his roadster. How god damn cool is that? I can never thank him enough for giving me this opportunity. Saying I was a little nervous about racing someone else's car is a huge understatement.

On my rookie pass there was a little mishap with the tach that resulted in a 107mph run. It was clean and was signed off by Nathan Stuart but not fast enough for the D license. Super exhilarating!

Second pass: Vince and his buddys figured out the problem with the tach after going through the race pack, msd box and tach. We make the run early Monday morning. Everything is working perfectly and it results in a 145.283 mph run. Perfect, I got my D license.

Last pass: Around 12:00 Monday we make the next pass. Roadster performs flawlessly, Car sounds incredible, pull the chute and get off the coarse. 166mph and some change. I get my C license! The top speed on this run was 176mph!

    It was fucking awesome!!!

It is something I will never forget. Not very many people will ever be able to do this ever in their life and I'm grateful I got to. I certainly don't have the finances to build my own car anytime soon but it's in the back of my mind that's for sure. It is pretty cool blasting down the coarse where you are the only thing out there and not having to worry about hitting anything!

I want to thank Vince for giving me this awesome opportunity. Also Garrett Boyle for all the help he did getting the car ready to go and helping me get strapped in and cooled down. Garrett also licensed in Vince's car and got his B license!

It's mandatory to get a picture in front of the Bville sign.

I don't know if you could tell by my face, but this is conveniently where the sedan started to run like shit one morning. What better place to pull off.

I was so busy with driving and helping Vince, that the only pics I took were at the Nugget and of my own car. I saw tons of cool race cars and bikes but was either coming or going out of the pits.

Peter Vincent was doing a photo-shoot with the Rolling Bones one morning. Poteets 3 window is so cool. By far my favorite hot rod there.

Saturday night my buddy Eric and I were asked if we would do a photo-shoot. We said yeah! Everyone taking pictures and the model was really cool, having a lot of fun doing it. It was a ton of fun and I would do it again anytime. It was a blast!

Hey 51Farmtruck, the truck in your avatar looks like Lance Sorchik's grey Chevy, what's the story? Sedan is too cool, btw...

Loved all the stories of the trip! That's extremely cool that you made some passes in Vince's roadster! Glad to see the bitchin sedan back in front of the shop!

Jimmy, great eye. That is my "51farmtruck". It has a heavy influence of Sorchik's truck. Lance's truck is still one of my favorites ever. My dad and I built that when I was in high school. I drive it almost every day its not snowing. I remember looking at all the rodders digest and the first thing I would do is look at the back page for the Sorchik drawings.

I remember the first time I saw a pic of his truck. That was it, game over, I was in love.

I would love to see the crate in person. Estranged car club has the coolest group of cars I've ever seen. Maybe I'll see you at vantage.
