Features Newest Rolling Bones Car - Tom McIntyre '32 3W

  1. I was checking out HEMI32's post about the 990 'Goldenrod' streamliner and wondered if the discussion would get to Tom McIntyre, and eventually it did. He asked about starting a thread on his newest car, this '32 3-Window just completed by Rolling Bones.

I saw it at Bonneville this year (as did a million other people) and here's a couple of pics I took of it. I didn't get too many photos of it as I was interviewing Tom (who has had an absolutely fascinating life, by the way) for a feature in an Aussie magazine.

  6. I met Tom and had the privilege to see his private collection in 06 right after he acquired the Williams Brother's Roadster. He is a great guy!

It's a killer car, and they do nice work. But the car was chopped when Tom bought it, before the Bones crew got it. Everything else looks amazing too.
They may have tuned up the chop on second thought. Been a few years since I've seen the body.

  22. After running down I 80 with Tom and the Rolling Bones bunch for right at 1000 miles on our way to Bonneville I can tell you this new ride of Tom's is one BITCHEN HOT ROD...It looks better going down the road. Shake down run was from NY to Bonneville to Cal, with no problems. Tom loves it, and the Bones boys just keep raising the bar with every new build.

  23. I had the privilege of seeing the Williams Bros. roadster when I dropped in to see the Rodder's Journal crew back in '06 while on holiday with my family. Steve Coonan gave me one of the test Polaroids.

I was also amazed to find out he owns the Penske-Donohue Sunoco Camaro, which blew my socks off when Hot Rod featured it with the tri-fold poster back in June '88. Twenty-five years ago and I remember it plain as day. He sure does have an amazing collection of cars.

Really like that steering box bolt tunnel feature in the frame. Details like this are what make a great build. Bob

Tom is a true car guy / hot rodder , he flew in two days before we left for Bonneville , drove his new hot rod around the block a couple times and then headed west with us . He spent the weekend in Bonneville and then headed for Pebble Beach where he raced his Donahue sunoco camaro and his Mickey Thompson #3 corvette . Then he jumped back in his new hot rod he drove home, 3250 plus miles total . We'd say that's a good maiden voyage for a brand new built hot rod.
