I like'em all! Had a few 57's, if I could build another Tri Five I think it would be another '57, something along the line of a "BLACK WIDOW"......simple & fast! My oldest son Gary shift'n gears on the Alum T-10 4 spd. He's soon to be 50!......jesus i'm get'n old!
My first car was a '55 Chevy. Paid a whopping $175.00 for it and drove it home from the lot. My parents grounded it immediately since I had no insurance and had spent all my money on the car so could not afford insurance for another 5 months. Pulled the engine and dropped in a rebuilt 283 that was a screamer right after I got my first job. Moved the 3 off the tree and onto the floor with a Hurst Syncro-Loc shifter. I miss my '55. Sold it for a whopping profit! $250.00 the following year. Profit? After an engine? Tires? etc. Well, as a kid, I thought it was a profit. My vote is for a '55 and after my '34 project is done, I will go for another '55 for sure.
ok I own a 57 ford but ive allways loved the 55-57 chevys I cant answer the poll because I like all 3 but if I could id own a 55 hardtop or nomad a 56 hardtop a 57 210 sedan, or belair hardtop but id take any of the bodies offered from any of the 3 years if anyone has one DIRT cheap near ohio im listening
55 all the way ! One I had a few years back , wish I didn't sell it. Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
I never understood why guys cut the front ends off these cars. I know it's a weight savings but if it's not going to be used in competition why sacrifice the ride quality and just buy tubular A arms and an aluminum rack and pinion.
Stock front ends do ride cushier, but I'm pretty sure your gasser card just got revoked. If you've never had ride in or driven a pissed off gasser, then I don't expect you to understand. We have some both ways but the axle cars make us giggle like little school girls.
I've have owned a couple of '55 210 2 dr sedans, but my favorite of the tri-fives Chevrolets is the '56 Nomad. I've owned this one for over 22 years, after wanting one for 19 years before that. It has been driven over 300,000 miles since I've owned it. The photo in my avatar is the same car as it looked 20 years ago.
Very nice; thanks for the pics. I should add that the '55 Delray is my fave of the three. The stock interior looks "custom" in them!
Now that's what I call STYLE. Park that beautiful Nomad beside any current SUV, and ask a bunch of first graders to point out the prettier car. I think we already know the results. --- Steve ---
I like all thre, but the 56 has the cleanest lines. We have owned our 56 Nomad for a good while, and it would be my favorite. Bob
I'm not a Chevy guy, so my first priority would be parts. There is only one choice at that point. A '57... If someone stuck a gun to my head and made me build one of these ugly cars, it would be a '57 Bel Air 2-door hardtop. No gun to my head, it would be a '55 Plymouth Belvedere...
