Just got a wacky idea to take my A body off and install a 32 on my chassis. My question is I have a stock wheel to wheel A frame length can the rear fenderwell of a 32 line up. If possible post any pics or post a length of you 32 from front of cowl to rear axle centerline.

I hate to be a buzz kill but why?? I know you already have the model A frame, but honestly I am not sure that the modifications needed to do the swap are worth it. If it is because of $$$ then save for a 32 frame and do it right. I think you would be much happier. There is a way to do anything you can dream up, however that doesn't always mean it should be done. Just my humble 2 cents

    Isn't a Model A wheelbase 103.5"?...Deuce is 106"...

  4. Put down the beer and walk away...a full fender '32 will look goofy on an A chassis, as the 32 frame is thicker vertically and is stamped in place of running board aprons. A chassis would require A aprons which would look out of place IMO. The bulk of a fenderless '32 body will overpower the skinny side profile of an A chassis.

When I was 12 I bought a 32 3 window on a 29 frame. The rear wheels were in front of the wheel wells and it drove like a big go kart. the car was channeled and the engine sat back under the cowl. The guy I bought it from put his roadster body on the 32 frame and sold me what was left.

Not a good idea for all the reasons mentioned. That 2 1/2 inches of wb makes a lot of difference in both room for things and proportions. It will not look good at all or work well at all.

  7. That would be like putting a SUV body on a Miata chassis!!

I'd have to believe your first sentence says it all. To quote: I got a WACKY idea to take my A body off and install a 32 on my chassis.

And unfortunately you aren't even the first to bring it up.

Some things just don't work no matter how long it takes to save up the coin to do it right and this is one of them.

What 3WLarry said ... wheel bases are different and the added work to do this kinda swap simply ain't worth it. Besides, it would look like shit, as has already been noted as well.

When you think about it...Model A's themselves look better on a Deuce chassis!

Not a good idea...the WB can be handled but support for body would take major engineering to have any real strength, and the whole lash-up would be essentially a full size car built like a T-bucket.
Without radical frame reconstruction...if you do that, you might just as well simply build a square tube frame of suitable size...yo can stretch the A wheelbase by using V8 rear and spring mounts backward on axle. This will give you a bit too much, so jack around front crossmember or use '35 front end, get it so you have proportional front length and engine compartment is not in the passenger compartment.
Obviously fenders aren't going to be in the mix...A frame againdt stock '32 floor would look essentially like a channeled car.
Result will be a car that will have all onlookers itching to take it apart and use frame and body separately to build more reasonable and functional vehicles...
