Ok so I'm back on it and hooked on flatheads! Reading everything I can get my hands on. Here we go: Pulled the flathead out of my roadster project that was rebuilt...NOT! LOL Out and its new mate a C4 Trans all cleaned up and ready. Flat-O-Matic arrived! Decided I had better pull the heads off and take a look. I guess a rebuild can consist off new rings to some.HAHA Time to get to work. That was a days worth! Blower parts came in and Flat-O-Matic All torn down. Hoping for a 4" Merc crank but I'll go with it! The block had a little bit of rust! Valves pulled and cleaned, waiting for new spings. This is a cheapie build. Crank cleaned still had original Ford bearings. Mains look ok but I think Im going to have to turn the rods. Time to port, polish and relieve! A new learing curve for me! My Great Niece came to visit. I wanted to keep her. First thing she asked, "which engine are we putting in it". Thats My Girl!
Funny,, just the other day I saw one of your post's and wondered what was up with the dragster, Your Great niece sounds like my daugther Brandy, Sent her a pic of the car with the body painted, she write's back looks sweet when can I drive it,,, Tim Jones
Hey Kathy! is all the rust core sand and rust from the water jackets? Missing Texas.. (supposed to snow this weekend... IT Effin MAY for God sake... ) levi
hey kisam, before you spend any time working on that block, you need to pressure test and magnaflux it. ask me how i know ...
Levi, I would freeze to death there. Yes all from the water jackets. Good point Mark! Thanks BrerHair!
You need to get the block Sonic checked to see what the wall thickness is, even if it passes Mag a wall could split from being way too thin Don
Well I was just going to throw it together to play w this year and build a serious engine over the winter, but one thing leads to another!
Looking really Good Kathy, both Car and Flathead K ................................. Taildragger&fenderless
good lookin start and if you have a cracked block don't worry just fill it sleeve it and punch it out!!!........... you gonna run alky? or gas, and love the two port!!
Thanks everyone! I'm on the fence on building or buying the intake? Doesn't seem to be too difficult but someone said a 2 deuce intake is what you want? I have few single intakes? My current plan is just to port , relieve, turn stock crank, rings, bearing, big cam, gas and go have fun!
My is homemade and there's a few others on here that have made their own , if you want to go with a stock mainfold type get ahold of Roseville Carl on here his is based off a stock mainfold, Tim Jones
If your still wondering about the car....I can say with 95% probability that it was the car that went to England. If you respond I'll ask my uncle and he'll be able to say, considering he was there. Where did you get this pic? Do you have more?
I have to get to the LSRU again. Miss all you guys! What a great story on the car Kathy. Hopefully you can get some definite history on it and get to building. jerry
