BF Goodrich radials -- radial TA or Long Trail?

Well I went with the 235/70R15 Radial T/A tires.... 1/2" wider and higher than the old 225/70R15 that were on there.... see photos.... new on left, old on right...

With the axle I have (S-10 2WD) and the backspace on my wheels (about 3-1/2" as I recall) that's the max width I could use before they hit the inner fender brace.

Nicer ride, don't know if it's the new rubber or the wider tread, but I'm happy.

I get it about Radials all the time
that is all I run
they work better in the rain here in FL

 

I'm considering running Radial T/A's as well. I'm used to radials, I've run a set of these before and I can get them and a set of new steelies for less than I can put tubes and bias plys on the vintage wheels I have. I'm still on the fence though.

Was looking at
BF Goodrich T/A RWL - 155/80R15
BF Goodrich T/A RWL - 225/70R15

 

Height sounds good -- fronts would be 24.7, rears 27.4 (calculated).

By the way one thing when I went from the old 225/70 to the BFG 235/70, what a difference in weight !
Old ones 48 pounds each, new ones 58 pounds (with same wheels).
More unsprung weight but still a nicer ride.....

 

Yeah, I'm actually a little concerned about my build being too light. The only major component I can't lift by myself is the engine. Weight out back is a good thing!
