Jim Kirby is alive and well living in Tehacapi, CA. He's still making hot rod parts and sells on eBay as skinhead661.

    And how much?
From 30k to 5k is a big jump.

  11. So did Jorge buy it then? If so, is he going to have Roy restore it to it's former glory?

Well, 30K is what the high-on brother said he wanted for it...I doubt it sold for that much...and the eBay auction ended unsold at 5K, with the reserve not met...so I'm assuming a deal was struck afterwards?...

Johnnie Overbay bought it from someone in Detroit without engine or trans. My buddy bought it from Johnnie just as it sits in the pics. Those pics I posted were taken at Reno Rods & Customs in OKC when we picked it up last Wednesday.

Wow! Great news! I remember following that build as a kid in the back of my parents station wagon on our move to Texas. Summer of '74. Seems like yesterday.

    Still the ugliest flames ever.

Funny, I was doing the same at the same time on our move from St.Paul to Phoenix in the back of the families '71 Satalite wagon.

Yes, the flames are ugly. The owner wanted to fix them, but we told him he had to restore the closest to original as possible!

Nice to see that it's getting restored. The paint job/flames need to be kept the same.

Keep us all updated as it gets restored!

I worked at AEE and this was our shop truck. Put on many miles in that thing.
When Tom was building it he called Lenny our parts manager and his brother over for dinner. In typical Tom fashion they ended up the evening polishing chrome for hours prior to assembly!

How neat seeing the rod of my dreams as a kid...

After studying the photos I am amazing -- was it really a hard tail or am I missing something? How did that work on the street.

I'm curious. The BBC in a Dodge and the Pontiac (yes I know they were once popular for such applications) rear end. Did this project make use of what was lying around or what people were willing to donate perchance? Thanks...

Went to Street Toys today and here are the latest pics. The engine an drivetrain are ready, the upholstery is begun. Still need the rear slicks(33.3 X 15 X 16) if anyone can help us find them! And front tires. More progress pics to come soon, next time I won't forget my camera!
