Hey Jim, is your dad's old sedan over here in Phoenix these days?

Yea, a real nice guy named Eddie Aston has it over there. Real rodder too, he really drives that thing. Thats what it was built for, driving. Everytime he comes out to California we meet up. He has had the car out to Del Mar 6 or 7 times. I got my buddy Axle to let in in the suade room at last years at GNRS. I am sure you have seen it around, Chip.

Oh absolutely! That's why I asked. It's become one of my most photographed cars locally lately!

Here are a few I like. A sedan has to sit right or they look like a bath tub. I think 40 sedans rank right up there with the coupes. I would never chop one but these two look pretty cool.

I too love the '39 and '40 sedans... have owned a couple '39's. If I were to build another one I think I'd try to find a '40 Standard - call me crazy :D but I like the Standard nose a little better than the Deluxe. This was our '39 Standard sedan, sold it a couple of cars ago!

I agree. I've seen some chopped and they can look cool but it's an all or nothing situation. If you chop a 40 sedan it's has to become a radical custom. It doesn't work to do only a subtle chop on one, however I way prefer stock, no hood, multi carbs and nice low rake.

283 Chev, 350 Turbo, 8-inch rear out of a Maverick on parallel leafs, dropped I-beam with a reversed main leaf. Not perfect by a long shot - lots of rough edges actually as the whole car was pretty much stuck together out of leftovers and swap meet parts. But it was bulletproof reliable and fuss-free. Hop in, twist the key and go.

Thanks for the good words though. Lots of excellent cars in this thread.. I'll have to dig around in my archives and find a few pics of some other sedans to post up here.

I know I've posted this one before but I'll throw it up here too. I love this car. Don't know who owns it, but it was at the Vintiques' run several years ago and I think it dis-proves every negative comment you've ever heard about 4-door sedans.

Here's my 39..... this came out of Colorado a little over a year ago. My wife and I disassembled it in 12 hours to the last bolt and the rebuild started. We have over 1,500 test miles on it so far and we are having trouble picking out the paint and interior colors so we are driving it until that is resolved.

Pictured with the 39 is my 37 that I built some 12 years ago that a close friend owns now. That was a four year build!!!! I've learned something in the past 12 years...... money builds cars quick!

I seen my tudor was posted on the first page when it was still in a mockup stage. Here's a shot of it finished:

Here's my build thread. I'd hate to hi-jack this thread.

    http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=542737

My current plan is to try to drive it in the gate at Good Guys in Des Moines. Right now, I had to quit working on it to try and build my wife's Excursion, and try to get my 72 K30 done.

Labolds sedan always reminds me of the rod test on a 40 tudor that R&C did in the early 60's. His sat much better is one of my favorites.
