head gasket covers some holes in head/block

    why is this? several diffrent makers. im working on a 65 slant 6 dodge. the new head gaskets cover 2 large water holes that go from the head to block/ yes its in right. any thoughts

    Is the gasket MoPar, or aftermarket? You might have someone's version of a one-model-fits-all gasket. I know there is a difference between the head gaskets for the 235 and the 261 Chevy engines, where the larger one has two steam/water holes that the smaller doesn't.

    Can you modify that one with a punch or drill and make it work?

    It is common for head gaskets to cover some holes and not others. It's how the designers regulate coolant flow and direction in the engine. As long as you have the gasket installed correctly, no worry about blocked transfer holes..:D

    yep, some holes are blocked for a reason. Dont punch holes in your gasket.

    Fel-Pro is usually pretty good about noting design changes and the reasons in the packaging as well if it deviated from original.

    its a felpro and makes sense. after i studied it. it looks like it is to direct flow
