Paint the 2x4s they're sitting on black for your next photos and shove them back about an inch under the grille opening lip. You're getting there.
Yeah.........I don't think it's gonna cut it. Too bulky for me. Another vote for a simple 55 ford grille or one of those aftermarket 55 corvette grilles. Actually, the stock 52 grille doesn't offend me too badly either but an old aftermarket chrome tube grille would prolly be my choice.
Just my $.02! I think the vertical pieces need to be back a lil bit. Then, maybe removing the outside ones and having just the middle 4 fit between the lil open space, splitting the center of the hood/car line. Just a thought and take it for what its worth. I'll try to do something to show you what I'm talking about. Heck you could even get crazy and put gold tint on one of them! Thanks for sharing! Biff
Way too bulky pieces, it's just not gonna look right. Nice looking car though! Posted from the TJJ App for iPhone & iPad
just an idea but a spear or spreader bar though the middle and cut teeth down and weld them on to the bar top and bottom. A bit of work but could look cool when chromed. Wish i could photoshop!! Lol.
Got the front aerostar springs in and the shocks from jamco. just gotta let it settle and see where im at. Now back to the grille.....glad some of you appreciate it!
C-notch half done on one side.Gonna finish this up through the week, then back on the grille... Posted from the TJJ App for iPhone & iPad
I think you hit it right this time You dig it and that's what counts, and it gives folks something to talk about instead of it being some boring cookie cutter done before deal you did it your way.
Thanks. Got one side of the c notch done. Should be back on the ground by the enda the week. Posted from the TJJ App for iPhone & iPad
I agree 100%. The point of customizing is to make it look better than stock. This is changing stuff for the sake of it. Lots of great options out there, hit up the Rikster's page and the little books for some inspiration.
Anyone gotta clue what these bumperettes are off of? I wanted to find a couple more in decent shape but can't find any that look like these...thanks
Well, I got the gravel guard modified to fit the teeth. I just added an inch and half to where it meets up with the fenders and made some spacers where it meets up to the radiator support and painted em black. I also lowered the front bumper 3 inches. I gotta make a pinion snubber for the rear end then back to the grille...
Sorry, this projects been put on hold for a while. Cracked the flathead block, workin on rebuilding a different 8ba this winter...
When you get back to the grille, I would seriously think of Photoshop. This is a good way to brainstorm other ideas without making metal chips. I like the car though. Looks like you have Olds tail lenses in the back; think of a way to the Olds theme into the grille. my .02 good luck.
I agree 100% with Drew. I love your ride they way it is and if your not going to improve it then I wouldn't make the change. Take your time you will come up a kool idea.
Bumperguards for a Bug are smaller, cheap and available aftermarket. Ilike the idea of a '55 grill with stock parking lites.
I was going to say what anteek49 just said, but you need to use the European bug bumper guards. The US bumper guards are to tall.
Hey that's mine, lol. Some people like it some people hate it, I love it and I built it so there. Haha Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
