it been a while since my last post
but here some update on the progress so far...

stripped a whole 2003 chevy 3500 and now test fitting the cab
it needs to drop a few more inches but you'l get the idea

 

since the wheel base was a little to short, i have added 16 inches to the chassis

What is the plan for the radiator?

 

Great idea. That creates a lot of extra and much needed room in the cab. Neato

 

The plan is to make a tunnel from the grill that goes under the floor to the radiator

made engine mount brackets and a transmission crossmember
and shortened the driveshaft this weekend

 

Hey, what's all that stuff around your truck? Oh, I know...SPACE. That's just cheating to have that much room to work.

It's looking good. Did you make the trans mount or was that a factory part? That 2003 Chevy chassis is working very well.

Great idea,fitting the engine behind the cab,easy access to the motor and plenty of leg room in the cab,i can see it as a Ramp Truck with the ramp coming up over the winch and engine,good job. Gaz!

i have bought a set from a 37 la salle but these are waiting in the US to be shipped over

With the Ramp bed it's starting to look a lot like my old one. Keep the pictures

It's going to be an awesome looking rig.

 

Great project. I would have left it the original condition and used it to trim my Palm Trees…Then take it to Famoso Raceway and watch the March Meet and Hot Rod Reunion from a new prospective.
Keep up the good work, anxious to see it completed.

 

got some more done yesterday
more paint removed and lowered the cab a little bit more over the chassis




also cut a hole for the radiator in the back of the cab
and added a floor brace

 

Cool project, I like the motor and radiator placement. Nice work on the bed too

removed some more paint from the doors


and added some more steel to the ramp in the rear




and have been working on the floor/radiator cooling tunnel
