One of the first times I started using this computer, my kids got me logged on to HAMB and Eagle Field was one of the first things I saw and nearly flipped!
I could not believe my eyes. I started following Rocky's twin car construction and he has personally invited me to go there.
It's defiantly on my bucket list before I die. Tom S. in Tn.

    ATTENTION IN THE PITS!!!

I'm back! I have been recovering from a double lung transplant at the U.of California Medical Center in San Francisco done on January 7th. It's been a looong bumpy road, but I beat the odds and I'm now well enough to go home...it's good to be back, and living again.:)

Well I will be damned, I have raced my 62 corvette on that track since 1966 to last year. I never, ever noticed a food stand on the spectator side. I remember the spectator side full of cars in the 60s. But as racing fell off, they were put over on the racers side.

I guess once I made the turn on to the track, all focus was on staging and the tree.

    A great track, RIP

I remember the spectator side in the the early sixties. There was a price difference between it and the pits' side; I don't recall what it was. In early 1962 as broke teenagers, buddies and I were pooling pennies to be able to get in. Began racing not long after. Lots of great memmories.

Yup. Jim Lutz and Myron Lundberg. Two of the nicest guys I've ever met. Both guys were members of the Torquers car club of Minneapolis. The Anglia was a National record holder and won A/Gas at the '64 Indy Nationals. The car was wrecked in 1965 and they built the Olds funny car which really hauled ass. Jim passed away a few years ago and was a fearless driver. I believe Myron is still around but I haven't seen him for a few years.

I'm pretty sure that's Al Tschida driving the Feur-Farsond-Tschida Willys. Another member of the Torquers. This pic has to be from the '65 Nationals. Al won C/Gas at the '64 Nationals with a Different Willys and was runner up in '63 and '62. He also had a '33 Willys gasser then went on to campaign several nitro funny cars. He also has a new and improved Model of the '64 cars that runs really well.

I was sitting directly across the strip from you. I was on a 3 day pass from Fort Leonard Wood and slept in a '57 Buick for three days so I could see the '66 Nationals. You can see that Jim Lutz was out on Eddie Schartman and this was a close one but Eddie nosed out Jim. For as heavy as that Olds was it really hauled.

Does anyone have any pics of this car in motion? This Anglia and Al Tschida's Willys were both 4-speed cars and were just plain awesome to watch.
