    Where are what?

  3. I think he is looking for an SBC on squeeze (NOS). I think they still get impressed with nitrous over there at Hot Rod magazine. that may be a good place to look.

Fast and furious 1-5 is a pretty good "nos" reference

Do you think that he is wondering what sbc(small block chev) and nos(new old stock) mean when we just use abbreviations? He is from Ireland, and may not be familiar with our shortcuts.

Back before NOS had new meanings, nos. meant numbers, no. was number.

It's an old guy thing that I still remember:)

  15. If you mean a New Old Stock sbc, I have a NOS 283 block I'm building for my Cabriolet, but then once I crank it up.......

Way da hell more than they ever made Corvettes.

Nunatax the first thing you need to know when trying to ID a sbc is
http://www.nastyz28.com/sbchevy/sblock.php They have done a good job on rounding up casting and suffix numbers.

Don't be too shocked if that "Corvette" engine started life in a 77 Chevy van though.

  19. 3978018 does not show on a block casting number list for a SBC.
3970010 is a small/big journal block number that was used in everything.

Could be a 4 bolt main 350 but no bets on that you need the letter code off the right front block pad to know what it came out of .

  23. The numbers are located on the bell on the driver's side. All small block chevies have the numbers in the same place. The stamped numbers are located on a flat pad on the front of the engine.

  24. Beno don't waste your time with this guy, he has selective eye sight. I posted all this info yesterday around the 4th or 5th post, and even a another post and picture of the pads. He was logged on and reading the thread and totally ignored the post's.
