Features Rare Shifter collecting

Hi; Anybody else collect rare shifters? here are some of mine to start with, B&M Chrome box shifters, Hurst YOYO shifter and maybe the rarest of all, an Ansen selector shifter for an olds-pontiac. THANKS Chris

I really like the Hurst Yo-Yo's, I have 3 of them.

 

Don't know if these qualify as rare, but you don't see many ..I've had this set of 4-lever L/Rods for a while now..I just need to win the Lottery and build a gasser around them...

Those Lightning rod are Cool, A friend of mine has a NOS set in the box, sure would like to talk him out of them!! Chris

Not really. There are quite a few missing parts on that one. It is a very complicated shifter.

One rod move the gate selector lever on the lower front of the trans, and the other one for the side lever, moves the pre-selected rail back or forth.

That is a later version with the stamped steel mounting bracket. The earlier one is made of cast brass and it marked 51 to 59 Olds

 

I'm starting my collection with an Eelco for a Lasalle side shift.

Ill have to dig out the rest of the linkage for that shifter, It came off a 6 bolt tranny behind a 401 Buick with dual WCFBs in a 39 Chevy Master Deluxe that I drove to High school, If I remember correctly it shifted fine? THANKS Chris

I don't know how good they were, as I have never had a complete one. Must have cost a few bucks back then, with all the pieces and production cost.

Is there a Foxcraft in the bunch?
My first car had one.

 

I have 2 original Foxcraft shifter in the original boxes, I'll have to post a picture.

 

I'd love to have one of those old B&M covers for my '55 Chevy!

 

been thru many. the fore aft controls all gears and the side to side splits 1st- rev and 2-3.
the bell crank was the missing link. can't understand why it never occurred to me.

 

When I bought my 47 I thought I'd have no problem finding a shifter for it. Boy was I wrong!
I can see where you could get into collecting shifters. I've seen quite a few different examples lately.

 

rare?on ebay sold for 500?have been told worth 2500?

I've been looking for a B&M 60 series for our clutch turbo, now I know why I can't find one, sooome body is hording them all!

 

Ansen shifter for conventional 3 speed standard trans that have two side shift levers. Saw only one other so far, and it was on hamb a few months ago. I don't recall seeing one back in the day. Must have been too pricey or not as cool as a Hurst

Most likely had a round knob; this one has a high school shop made?, brass threaded T handle, it's hand stamped, says: " LOU-N-LUCY "

 

Anybody else got any cool old shifters? Im going to get a few more down from the rafters and take pics. Chris

 

here is an Eelco made for sideshift 50 Olds, as well as Cad/LaS up to 54. Looks like a top shifted trans.


It came from a local 37 Chev coupe that ran gas class at the old airport drags, last raced in 62. He cut the original chromed shifter handle down, and I have made another one from a Ford flathead truck handle.

These both are slip-on handles. The original handle was designed that way.

found this shifter at an antique shop in Port Townsend a few years ago
it looks like a "universal" three speed with a bracket and rods that look like they might fit an early fifties Chevy?

I recently purchased a '53 Merc OD trans. It came with what I was told is a rare Ansen shifter. I can't find any markings, can anyone ID this? The linkage is homemade and it will need more bracing other than the two little bolts that hold it on the trans. It seems like a well made shifter, it is going in my T tub behind an 8BA flatty.
