And here are the pics of how it looked when it was discovered in a garage near Diamond Head several years ago.

As a Navy brat, I was on Ohau in 1957, but only 9 years old. Too bad my folks weren't into it, that would have been so cool to see. Who knows, I coulda turned out more of a "custom guy" with such an early imprinting! Gary

It's been a while, but I finally had a chance to go take a look at John's Survivor Roadster again yesterday. Shot these using my super geeky, vintage iPhone filters. Enjoy.

    WOW!

    Thank you for sharing those!

  15. Man, that thing could be an awesome looking ride! I like the stance and chop especially. Don't think it's gonna buff out though. Sorry, but I think the original builder would smile down on you if it was at least sprayed fresh. All that "patina" just takes away from the clean profile. What an awesome rod that was, and could be again.

looking through the gate shot, those screws should be slots, not phillips.

Aw geeez! Talk about an eye for detail! And here I was trying to not get his late model El Camino and Toyota truck in the frame. Both were sitting very close and to either side of the driveway. Hilarious.

Great shots Jason! Man it would be great if John brought the car to one of the car shows, I'd love to see it in person. What a great piece of history!

That's the plan Eli, once he gets it tied together and rolling.

Can't wait to take a ride...that is if he lets me.

About a month or two ago I saw a FenderLess 32 in San Diego Craigslist that looked exactly like that but black with the claims of being that same Hawiian car. I clicked on this thread thinking, "cool, someone bought that car".
