  4. Hey,Jimi. The reason I say end the 60s-70s thread with 79' is because along with the muscle cars there were some great land yacht cars, good music, bell bottoms, long hair, fros, polyester, good films & TV - a very "fingerprinted" era on it's own. The 80s gave us K-cars, abortion, new drugs (with little drug testing), rap, heavy metal and ended with AIDS.

Hey there, Wingspread. Thanks for sharing your thoughts about a possible drop-dead cut-off year and why. OT, but I have to agree: The '80s had a mighty weird feel; I've always called those years "The ME Decade." And not friendly to cars of any kind at all.

It's notable that somebody pointed out that there is already a thread about those post-64 "up in the rear" vehicles. So, all the more reason to leave them out of this thread, right? As I said, I liked them, but we can go THERE if we want to experience that era.;)

Bottom line, nobody wants to junk up a good thread with material that's a far cry from vintage. I guess the best rule of thumb might be: The further AFTER '64 the photo, the more judiciousness should be exercised? Just presenting ideas. Looking for discussion not an argument (that would be John Cleese!:D).

  21. Those "soda" cans look like old school brake fluid bottles.

^^^^ Yep! And I remember drinking root beer out of the brake fluid cans. Had to be about 1954, '55. I thought I was just imagining that until I saw this photo.

Years ago, I ran one just like this in Union Station, Providence RI. The Northeast Corridor had many towers with this setup (and plenty of the old ones with big levers) until the computerized things in the 90's
