Thanks ill look into those, I was thinking about one of those magnet that you push and then it springs out, then you could just pull it of the magnet? ill have to get one to see if it will work.

I was thinking the push style cabinet thing would work too. Something like this one:

You could weld the small metal piece to the door and fab up a bracket to hold the main body. I'd think it should be strong enough to keep the door closed if you hit a bump on the road.

 

That is one good looking truck. Keep posting the pictures.

 

Stumbled onto this thread today. MAN, this is some amazing work (as is the general consensus). laidout53 hopefully the reason why this thread hasn't been updated in a couple months is because you're too damn busy with fab work for hire that you haven't had much time to work on your own. You deserve the work man, you're a real talent. Keep it up..

Finally an update for you guys!

Finished welding in the door pieces and got the dash about 98% welded in. The glove box mod is about 80% done. Finished the dash corner transitions and tweaked the glove box gaps (a little more need) Also shaved the window wiper holes.

Heres the pictures...

Hit the dash with a scotch brite pad.

Wow...that's insane.

I'm sure you look at it and think there are a few things you'd want to do differently. Because I'm a nice guy, come to my place and I'll give you the cab off my truck. You do the swap and then you'll have a pretty fresh stock cab so you can start over.

I wish I had the skill that's squeezed just in your little finger.

Question for the aussies. do you know if the one piece screen in the '57 model (a few pages back) will fit the 48-52 cabs. are the cabs the same and just different front ends?? maybe the one piece windshield (screen) was available prior to 1957??? would not mind converting my 48 to one piece when I get to that point..

Tell you what Skull. All 3 of our trucks can get in the picture. We could call it the "good, bad and the ugly". Laidouts truck is sooo good, Skulls is soooo bad ( in good way) and mine will fit the ugly end......

 

You know...for as cool as your truck looks, I'd make that trade.

Well I started on the firewall today. cut the new one cut and bent, and capped the "doghouse" part of it.

More to come, Including floor boards and a removable trans tunnel.

I have just signed up the other day for the Willys side of things, and now i find some way cool radical Dodge trucks that are getting the treatment, your Dodge is coming along real nice and i have enjoyed the journey so far and look forward to the future in your truck build. Mopar Or No Car, Or Truck in this case. Keep up the great work.
