For the past five years, I only use water, squegee, spounge, chamois, new beach towels.

    Great job on the truck!!

I tried tons of stuff. Nothing worked. Mine was PPG flexed and flat clear. Couldnt clean up fingerprints and smudges. I made it shiny once I got sick of trying to clean the flat finish. (crazy right??)

Ive head guys using everything from windex to pledge, spray detailer and everything in between. Gotta try a few and see what works for you.

    Good luck.

I haven't tried this yet on mine, but someone told me they use powdered Ajax and water and it keeps the finish looking "flat". Said it buffs the finish without being too abrasive. Mine is getting shiny in places like where my arm lays on the window sill.

Heard of guys using Windex on their factory 'denim' painted motorsickles.

i use Castle glass cleaner and a micro fiber cloth. thats it nothing else. i paint for a living and use it to pre clean all my cars prior to prep for paint. the stuff just works. I clean my flat metalic black t-bird with it also , try it and you wont need anything else.

This is a base coat without a clear coat. I use "Adams" detail spray once week.

  15. On my flat forty, I us mainly soap and water, for bad spots I use foaming window cleaner. But over all, what a pain in the ass to keep clean, I'd never do a flat colour again---al least I don't think so!

    BTW, your truck looks great!

Mequiars Tech 2.0 wax and a microfiber towel. I wouldn't have believed it, but someone posted that on here one time and I tried it on my SEM Hot Rod Black paint job. It made it look like the day we painted it, not shiny, just fresh. It also repels water and dirt really well. I have also dripped gasoline when filling up and a little more wax and the mark comes right off.....it actually protects the finish.

Not cheap, about $20, but a bottle lasts forever and you only need to do the car maybe every 3-6 months, or less. It is also the very best chrome polish I have ever used, gives the chrome a deep look, and no abrasives to damage the plating.

Here is the stuff I am talking about.

I used PPG flexed and flat clear on my 65' & its been sitting out side for 6years now. I have never had any problems with fading or cleaning it. You can also try this http://www.houseofkolor.com/news/demo1.jsp

Your truck looks great,,saved yourself a lot of grief using a quality paint and getting the flat clear on. Easy to clean,,just like the shiny ones. I also used the flat clear just not ppg paint

    see below

If you ever plan on painting that truck - DO NOT use PLEDGE - ever - not even once.
Yes it makes it look great as far as clean and a little liqourish shine, but you will have to blast that primer off and respray the primer and then your top paint coat.
PLEDGE has oil/ wax in it and it will seep into the pores of the paint. Body shop wax and grease remover will not romove all it so if you paint the truck, it will look good in the paint booth regardless of paint brand UNTIL you get it out into the sun and heat from the sun will leech out the oil/wax of the body pores and your paint job will react and won't be nice.
TRUST ME - don't use Pledge if you ever plan to put paint over ANY primer or you will have to strip it and reprimer prior to painting.

I had SEM hot rod black on my 32. I used spray detailer and micro fiber towels. Worked good, the paint was single stage with hardener.
