I am looking at buying a car in Minnesota (I'm from Wisconsin) an the guy has told me that he can't get a title in person that it is being mailed to them. In WI you get a title in person on the spot when you go to a service center. The seller claims he went to the dmv and will have a title in the next couple weeks and he will mail it to me. Any help from folks in Minnesota would be appreciated. I'm wondering if this is true or not. Posted from the TJJ App for iPhone & iPad
yeah he's tellin the truth! it takes from 2-4 months to get a title in mn. i transfered one in june and am still waiting for it! i know it sounds fishy but its a stupid reality here! mal
For an extra $20, you can get an "expedited title". It comes in a week. I just did it on a car I sold last summer. You just have to ask for it. However, some of the smaller deputy registrars are not able to do it. I don't know why.
He went in today and supposedly paid for it to get expedited. Seems ridiculous that you have to wait so long to get your title. In WI they just print them off while you wait. We are just going to type of a bill of sale for eachother and then exchange titles when his comes in. It's not end of the world, just an annoyance more than anything. We shall see how it all works out. Thanks again everyone.
