Not the best photo, but my back dash was decayed... cut out a new dash out of 1/4'' plywood and mounted some scrap bamboo reed (it lays flat and flush now)... I'm out of the loop, so is this overdone or underdone? Either way I like it.

Love anything vaguely Tiki. Keep it. I was actually looking for a way to do that on my dashboard in the Surf Wagon. Probably look too Gilligan though.

  15. I can't decide if I like it or not. But yeah, Hula girl. Kind of reminds me of when I was in the Philippines riding in a Jeepney......

Neat idea, always good to repurpose item, but it looks too kitschy/hipster for me.

If you like it, that's all that matters.

I spent about three hours cutting up thick bamboo (we have it growing everywhere) and laid it out and was going to epoxy it onto the wood... just didn't fit quite right.. but the bamboo reed was from a the privacy fence stuff... I believe it's sold at certain Lowes and Home depot's... And I take offense to that "hipster" comment!!! ;p Thanks guys!
