Back in the 70's while cruising Central Ave.in Phoenix, I kept hearing about a girl in a hot Corvette who had painted on the back of her car " If you beat me, you can eat me" I never saw the car, always just seemed to just miss her. A while back I was talking to a buddy who cruised Van Nuys Blvd., told me about a girl in a 'Vette with the same saying painted on the back of the car. I asked him if he had actually ever seen this mythical Corvette, no, he said, seems he always just missed it. I was wondering how far this urban legend made it's way across the states.

Deja Vu... I think I just saw this topic in the last couple of days on this forum and from what I could tell, that gal was propositioning guys with races all over the country, for decades! She must of had the fastest and most reliable Corvette, ever! Decades later and road worn, nobody wanted the snack:rolleyes:

  10. And wasn't the Myth even in a movie - Howard Goldbergs Apple Pie from 1976

And the Corvette Chick was only credited as "Olie", never to be heard of again - just like the myth

Hey, this chicks 'Vette floated well too!
Mid to late 80's she supposedly cruised Dandenong Victoria (Home of the Dandy Street drags, they were no myth!), though I think she traded her Corvette for a black Monaro!

    Man, she gets around!

Heard the same thing back in the mid-70's back in Harrisburg Pennsylvania when the locals raced the loop between Front and Second Streets. Don't know how the "story" started but do remember it. Hadn't thought about it in a long time.

I went to Union College in Schenectady, NY in 1960 and heard the same story associated with Shirley Muldowney who was supposed to be from those parts and raced a corvette around those parts with the same offer!

Like so many things in life, it sounds really cool when youre a teenager.

As you get older (and think about it) not so much.

She raced here in Motown from like 68 thru 85. Seriously, she did. Ask any "seasoned" Detroit street racer and they'll tell you they saw her. Funny thing though, it was white, then black, then blue every time heard it from someone else. Where you all miss the boat? She bought the car from some really old lady who advertised it as a "Chevrolet" for $500 that belonged to her grandson who died in 'Nam. Y'all need to keep your stories straight...

The first time I heard " the Corvette left in the garage" story, I was 17 and working as a lot boy at a Chrysler dealership, thought it was the coolest story, until about the 3rd time I heard it!

and then there was that dark, dark night when we saw our parents putting the gifts under the Christmas Tree and we knew the truth.....there was NO Santa Claus.
Thankfully this woman did, in fact, travel the World in her Corvette of many colors looking for kicks, wins and pennicillin highs along the way.
Sure, there are no photos, but we know she's out there to this very day, ...although that would make her about 75........

That's the way I remember it,... but that story goes back to 1966 (first time I herd it) on Telegraph,... The "old lady" also was selling a perfect, low milage, fule injected 63 split window vette that her brother blew his brains out in and they didn't find him for a week,... She only wanted $100. bucks for it,.. But you couldn't get within 20 feet of it. That girl was her granddaughter....... Geeezzzzzz That pore ol lady sure had a run of bad luck,... Huh ????
