    Hi everyone!

I'm BlackJackPG, but you can call me Pete. I'm 16 and my grampa (Retired Hot Rodder who restors pre WWII BMW's now) just baught a 1940 Chevrolet Special Deluxe Coupe. We wanted to spiff it up just like the one my grampa had while he was in the service in the 50's. He had a 270 GMC, a powerglide tranny and (we think) a Packard rear end. The car we got is completely origional, besides some "Juarez Job" upholstry and some raggedy wiring. The car is a genuine, perfectly straight New Mexico car. (we picked it up in NM). The clutch is in rough shape, but besides that, not too shabby. A little about me, my free time is limited due to highschool, but love to work with old cars, trucks, motorcycles, etc. Nothing specific... Just about anything I can get my hands on. Anyway, I'll be hitting you guys up with a few questions about engines and transmissions that can go in the car.

    Thanks a bunch!

    Pete

Trust me, I dont treat gramps like most kids do these days. He is like a father to me, and I'm like a "son" to him because he had 4 daughters, and all the rest of the grandchildren couldnt give a crap about cars. We've got something special. To 1967gtafb: there's the book to go with your title. :D

    Thanks again!

    Pete

P.S. I just realized I never gave my location... 'A Great Big Thankyou from the Wine Country, California!' There we go.

    Hello from Kansas.
You have come to the right place. My son and I are working on my car - lots of work and lots of fun. Make sure you let Gramps catch a 30 minute power nap now and then, we older vessels need all the boost we can get!

Haha, that I will! To Willy P.: My grampa's motto is, "I can sleep when I'm dead!" but he does tend to pass out infront of the TV with the volume cranked up a couple times a day. Haha... The more work, the more fun!

    Thanks for the warm welcomes!

    Pete
