So, my folkses bought this orchard. At the back of the orchard is a slough- At the edge of this slough is a '40 "big truck" cab and front-end, (the front end is goofy looking, proportions are wrong to be a '39/'40). This cab is elevated from the ground preventing significant rust-through. But my family are not hot-rodders. So no one see's the value in "risking the tractor tires" to rescue this sacred tin. What would YOU do if you had access to a FREE 37-41 ford truck cab? I'm thinking big-truck front-end on RV frame with "mini-cabin" motorhome section instead of truck bed or aluminum RV siding...? Or build a normal truck out of it? Or....?
It's got a '40 "big truck" front end I can't find pics of ATM, I'll get 'em posted tomorrow hopefully- Darn, I was hoping it was the smaller cab!!
I would build it. Would make a good pick up. I like the 40-41 big truck headlights - I built my rod from 41 1 1\2 ton. Used cab, hood, hood extensions , headlights ect . I would help you get it if I was closer!
"This cab is elevated from the ground preventing no significant rust-through. " The proper grammar would be " This cab is elevated from the ground preventing ANY significant rust through." Hey, it's your tag line, not mine !!!!!!!! Don
Cabs are all the same regardless of the truck size. The differences are all in the chassis and the front fenders.
make a skid / sled and winch it out. hell a 4 wheeler could drag it out. one person can manipulate a 40 cab. I have handled mine by myself a bunch. I spent $400 for one not as solid as that. why are you on the internet dithering about? go get it or tell me where it is. no grammar whores were injured typing this reply
First, spray all the spiders and webs...I HATE spiders! Second, quit being so anal about spelling and focus on building something! Sure, you can spell welder but can you use a welder?
Gross. ^^^^ To the OP. Its a cab. Big/little are the same as said. How are your tractor tires going to be damaged getting that cab? I thought that's what tractors were for. Driving over rough terrain. Just go get it!
What part of Nor Cal are you in? How far off the beatin path is it? If you need help you can can't me in but I don't really care for spiders either. I have a portable winch you may be able to strap to a tree and pull it out a little at a time. 2 or 3 guys can carry a bare cab with no problems. But the spider thing has me worried.
pull it out and get it out of the ground. Either build something with it or sell it to someone cheap that will.
if some one gave me free tin , which has never ever happened , id drag it out by brute force if i had to , to build a parts chaser out of it ,
Yeah, the ol' mail slot. That was a fun project, not real HAMB friendly though. Real easy chop. Thats about 7 inches
I've already dragged out the front end components- They aren't that neatly stacked right now though... and they are dented and rusty as heck!!
Since you asked.. I'd sell/trade it where it sits on Craigslist and continuously mention the "RR word" in the add. If the rest of the truck was there I'd cut it up and take it to the scrap yard instead of dealing with all the craigslist people.
That front clip looks like it could be in one of those Sara Mcloughin (or whatever) sad animal commercials for adopting pets.
