I got rid of the model a body and some parts then picked up this beauty. I have a small block chevy that I did alot of work to and a th350 trans for it. Also a camaro rear end thats already done with some red rims and whitewall tires. I plan on getting it running before I do any body work or interier. I might just go to the junkyard and find a good bench seat for the front and rear im not sure yet what to do. I want to chop it but ive never chopped anything before, so we will see about that. Still has the straight 6 and powerglide trans (I plan on trying to sell it when i get it out). Also the rear end is still in it (ill try and sell that also). What do you guys think?
Get it running and cruise! The PowerGlide rear has 3:55 gears, and is very desirable. Someone will be happy to get it. (Mine came from Canada.)
Alright nice project! I have a 50 fleetline myself and its the same color green. If you dont mind me asking, what are your plans for the front suspension?
Simple to install a 250 six or a V8 with std or auto along with a 68-74 Nove rear and upgrade the front end to discs if you choose. Nothing wrong with the stock brakes when rebuilt either. Great fun and more to be had when its done!
You asked what we think so...I say don't chop it. It looks cool just the way it is, but if you just can't resist the urge, make it into a rust free two door first. What should be done first is get the windshield cut down to size and then fit the roof around it. Go to the junkyard and grab a few old truck windshields and practice cutting them down with various methods. After seeing the rate of success with cutting the curved glass, and weighing in the cost of a 49-52 windshield you'll probably rethink the roof chop. If you want to chop something, for experience or whatever,I'd suggest doing a pre-52 Ford or something with a flat-glass up front.
I have no clue at all yet. I need all the sugestions I can get. Im courious on what other people have used. Ive seen alot of mustang 2's but im not to sure about that..... The more I look at it i dont think I want to chop it. Ill see how it looks once the rims are on and its at ride hight. thanks for the responses people! its cool to have people to encourage you.
