    Squablow approves of this thread.

I've got a '40 Chrysler and a '56 Buick with old aircraft hydraulics in it but no decent pics of either one.

    Keep them coming.

  10. Bombs Being born in Southern CA. could do with why they are mostly Chevrolet, the South
Gate factory probably had a lot to do with it. Pride in what was made locally.

San Diego back in the 80s. First BIG west coast car show for me...at what ever the name of that football stadium might be. Walked around. Looked at a LOT of rods and customs. One group that got my atttention was the "Bombs". All were owned by Chicanos (Mexican-Americans). Some of the finest workmanship ever. The cars were fantastic. And all the guys I talked with were very proud of their rides and we totally friendly about answering questions. Were they "traditional"? I would say, yes. This is just one category of rods/customs that definitely "fit in" with us.
"Us" being geezers who not only remember the good old days, but lived them.
A "Bomb"? Just another term for super customs.

Maybe these two Fords fall into the bomb category. Definitely the 49 and even if the 36 have shaved door handles it sure got the bomb look.

  24. '51 Hudson Pacemaker. Eventually it'll be a little lower with some smooth aluminum dish salt flat looking wheels. It's all original flat 6, 3 on the tree.

This is my previous 41 Buick I sold a few years ago. I really wish I could kept it but I was short on money at the time so it had to go…

I could be mistaken, but isn't this also what the hispanic culture refers to as a "Pachuco" car? The earlier (especially 30's) cars with all the exterior accessories really seem to fit that bill well.
