So i ran across guy selling a 39 ford sedan body, frame, suspension, no title. and 40 ford front fenders, grille, and everything attached to both for $300 or he taking to get crushed...

Should i go rip his arm off and give him 300 bucks? or what you think? I know market crashed on 39-40 fords, but i know it will come back. Honest opinions?

  3. how bad is the frame and suspension? a couple years ago i paid $400 for just a rolling chassis from one of these, but it was NICE.

39-40 fords are great cars, no matter what the markets doing; I'd get it; if nothing else, that is plenty of trading fodder...

just guessing... not that good All ive seen are 3 pics... thats the only one that shows both parts.

Thinking blast and fix fenders and flip them, take the body to a car show and chop it at the show? Idk... what does a chopped sedan look like?

even a guy without your back round would scoop this deal up. won't lose anything, except maybe some space for a while. blast it, seal it and wait for the right time to do it right or flip it.

I'd think you'd get your money back with the spindles and backing plates alone if they're in reasonable shape.

btw, I need spindles and backing plates :D

dont think about chopping one of these if you hae no idea what you are doing. not a chop for the faint of heart. you can make one of these worth nothing really fast. heres the one im working on. heres a 41 im doing right now.

Go for it! for $300 I'd pick it up and use it for yard art if nothing else.

  24. The market hasn't crashed that bad. there are 300 dollars worth of pieces there if you end up parting it out.

Glad you bought them, I would have done the same thing. Two door sedans make nice cars. Make sure to post some pics when you get them home.

  26. Glad you finally decided to buy it :), or else I would have driven all the way down & bought the Ford myself  Those oportunities don't come along that often so you have to jump on them. Now you can have a Happy New Year :D

  28. On one hand:
I bought a 40 sedan roller about 15 years ago from a buddy for $450...no interior, engine, trans but a straight, non rusted body with a deluxe front end and an early olds rear end on parallel leafs...bought it to flip as I never liked those cars.
Had it for sale for a year for 600...couldn't sell it! Finally got $450 from a buddy at work.
    On the other hand:
Part it out and come out smelling like a rose if you have the room and time..
    front brakes..$200
Tranny [if it has one] 300-500
    Pedals..150-200
fenders..start at 100 for dented ones
    40 grille..300
    39 steering wheel..100 if cracked
    dash...another 100
    front axle assy...200
rear axle assy ..150-200 if 3.78s which 90% were
See where I'm going with this?

Whew, good. I'd have paid you a hundred dollar finder's fee and been hooking up the trailer for a road trip for one of those for 300.00.
