I pulled the Rocket out and put in a flathead so I could be in this thread. :)

Small displacement, super high compression, extra large cam and lots of carburetion.
Actually the specs are on my profile page.
Thanks for comment Chris, I'm sure Sandy would be pleased.

  14. My 33 pickup has a 1934 221 that is stock with the exceptions of a SU-1A cam, Thickstun with two 81's, milled heads and headers. It is the cammiest sounding flathead, but mine don't rev like that! It makes decent power, but a mild 59AB would blow it away I'm sure. Those small cubes sound awesome with a cam in em!

I like the car a lot, but it's a shame that someone had to do that godawful lettering on the hood sides. To me, that completely ruins this car, and misrepresents what it was, not to mention looks bad for the Edelbrock name.

Or am I completely wrong, and this car was really lettered with Edelbrock Special?

Otherwise, this is one of the best threads on the HAMB - ever.

I believe the lettering to be somewhat authentic but there are other things in the restoration that are inaccurate. But the car is still a badass and one of my favorites !

296ardun .....Glad you enjoyed the photos . I have always enjoyed collecting historical Rod & Custom stuff. Before scanners and copiers were popular I would borrow photos that people had , and actually photograph them. These dry lakes photos were loaned to me probably 20 years ago and the owner is long since deceased. I have more ,so I will post more soon! Unfortunately I don't have any background info.
I have found, when people find out you love this stuff ,sometimes it finds you...I just got a whole batch of circle track photos from the 40's and 50's
