and, our own HAMB hero, Sam Davis (carsick), who piloted the famed "Freight Train" in the Cacklefest. Sam won the March Meet "Top Gas Eliminator" in "The Freight Train" in 1970 here at Bakersfield...holy crap.....41 years ago....

Sam is on the far left

Zoom thanks so much for the great shots. These are really great shots of details not usually seen.

  8. This is why I don't take as many pictures anymore. I wait for the ones other guys took.
I do need to add a picture I did take, Isky with his roadster that was on the cover of Hot Rod in 1948 talking on a cell phone

  12. You continue to amaze me Doug. For a guy with a back still on the mend, your eye for the perfect composition and angle proves you have the heart of a lion. I'm humbled to call you a friend.

  24. I'm so glad the Gruzen's recreated Gary Cagle's fuel roadster. I loved the original, and I love this one. Why? Because I'm a roadster guy, and this is actually a roadster. Not a top fuel chassis with a roadster body draped over it. Thanks for the pics Doug. It's a good thing you wern't "inspired'.
