I'm in the process of rebuilding my Tudor. It will look much the same except for a visor punched full of holes, drilled axle and wishbones and 37 Ford taillights. The suspension bits will be painted black, along with the spreader bars, grille insert, headlights and tailights. I am now choosing new wheels for the car. I already picked up a set of Firestone Dirt Track ribbed front and grooved rears in 16". I have a set of 37 Ford Wide 5 wheels and a set of 40 Ford Steelies both of which would be painted black if I end up using them. I am looking for other suggestions to go with these tires as well. Wire wheels? Halibrands with dark centers? Perhaps some photoshop help too?
I'm thinking about how good that car would look with black steelies, blackwalls, and full fenders in gray!
This one will remain fenderless. I already have my full fendered A Tudor: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=600897
If I do go with 37 Ford wide 5's, 40 Ford steelies or 35 Ford wires, they will be black. Any wheel set-up I go with will have to run the 16" Firestone Dirt Trackers I have waiting in the garage.
It's '35 Burgundy painted wires or bent spoke Kelseys for me - especially with the Dirt trackers. Cragar caps would look killer too....
Narrow 40's wheels and big and little bias plys and get rid of the 4 bars and that thing would be way cooler......
. I have the Series 390 Street Pro by Crager on my roadster project. http://www.cragarwheel.com/wheels/?id=4&first=0&fid=1 They are more or less a very nicely chromed version of a Hallibrand from days gone by. Impressive quality... This is with the tri bar spinner ...and the regular Crager center cap .
Please read, any set-up WILL use the Firestone Dirt Track rear and Grooved fronts I HAVE ALREADY PURCHASED. Thanks.
Sorry... I'd vote for something like a Salt Flat then - either American, Cragar or Rocket - with knock-offs. The Cragar's and Rockets are a little less expensive. Gary
