dont even start in with that crap, my wifes 09 scion (made by Toyota) has already been through two 400 dollar rear wheel hubs and it had less than 50k on it, and thats if you can find the right part. I went though 3 parts stores and they all tried to sell me a four lug hub for my five lug car. the car cost 19k new and damn near 10% of that is tied up in those hubs.
My bosses daughter also has an 09 scion with a bad alt, Toyota quality my ass.

My 93 beat to shit s10 v6 has nearly 260k on the clock and runs like a top. Our next car will probably be a US built ford or chevy

Thats what ive had a problem with them in.

  5. Haha
They don't know what motor they're in. :D

  6. Three letters: E. P. A. Its all due to the heavy, and I mean HEAVY regulations they have enacted. We use to be able to blame it on corporate greed or tight-fisted union control that lost more jobs than it ever saved, but now we have to look at the real problem. I was reading a story a few weeks ago about how the EPA now requires that an EPA agent must now overlook milk production because they want to limit how much milk is spilled onto the ground. Their reasoning is that milk contains oil, and it will pollute the drinking water. I also read a story just last night about how the military switched from using lead bullets to tungsten because of the fear of polluting the drinking water whenever a bullet misses and goes straight into the ground. Well now there are studies that show that the tungsten bullets actually contaminate the drinking water and cause the spleen to shut down and poisons the bone marrow of animals that have been tested from select testing areas. In other words, tungsten is radioactive and is doing much greater damage than the lead bullets could have ever done.

Look, I'm all for protecting the environment whenever gross negligence causes a direct threat to us whether that means the food grown is polluted and made toxic or that the water we drink is poisonous. I get it. But the real issue is that through over regulation, we have basically destroyed our own industries. The EPA and other government establishments have made us sitting ducks in a world were third-world nations are now out producing us in every sector. I also read a story a few weeks back where the current administration has put a moratorium on coal production, and the EPA has forced over half of the coal-powered electricity plants to shut down because the companies cannot keep up with the regulations that are coming out of the EPA. These regulations affect us. They cripple us. When are we going to fight back? When are we going to stand up and say no more? We have got to fight back and take back our industries so that we can make our own products again before we are forced into the stone age. That is where we are headed.

The best way we can fight back is to recycle. What do I mean? Keep buying the jalopies we love so much, fix them, and get them back on the road. We should make it our mission to restore five old cars to road operable conditions for every one Prius that is produced. We can make our stand, and it begins in our own garage. Got a project you've had for years? Been mulling the idea of fixing it up? Do it. Now is the perfect time. I've got two of my own, and I'm doing everything that I can to get them back on the road. It is our duty to tell the environmentalist wack job to put himself six feet under the green and stay out of our lives. We do it every time we get together in parking lots, in front of businesses, and in arenas throughout the world were we show off the old cars that we are so proud of. The next time you go to a car show, just remember this. You are taking your stand against the EPA. SO MAKE THEM PROUD, AND MAKE THEM LOUD!!! We are the hot rod punks that our grandfathers were. We are the future. I love the smell of spent gasoline in the morning. It smells like victory.:D

I made sure to buy American... Ford....

Too bad it was made in Mexico =(

And, to stay with the original topic of plugs, where they are made, how wwell they work, what they cost, etc... I used to travel to Japan alot for work. My old Navy buddies over there would have me bring them NGK plugs from the US, as it was cheaper for me to buy them here and then have them slide me a few bucks to bring them overseas that it was for them to buy them locally. talk about screw up world economics.

  8. NGK is a good product.

To be fair, I wasn't asking whether you resold vehicles or not. I like old American iron, NOT new American iron. I'm in the right place.

Well to be truthful, I used to have a '94 Escort and for some reason, Autolites never went well with the motor. Oddly enough, I bought a set of Bosch iridium plugs and the worked perfectly! weird I know.

seeing is believing and i dont see any old toyotos , hondas etc. i do remember the disappearing toyoto trucks that rusted away before your very eyes. if you promote another countrys products over your own seems like u should move there. for you younger people that didnt pay attenion in history class the japs killed thousands of our fore fathers and wanted to destroy us all. you have grown up thinking you owe nobody, well i have news for u . 100s of thousands of us were drafted or enlisted to make this country free. how about u have u even donated one day to this country? is buying american to much to ask?

re: the state of our country & our economy; we are being destroyed by global power elites who could care less about our hot rods. Read "Confessions of an Economic Hit Man" by John Perkins and learn what happened to other countries economies and what is happening to us now. And then read up on Ron Paul. That's all I'm going to say on this topic.

  22. We are the last industry. It seems like the only real manufacturing production comes out of our own garages. So that would also make us the best recyclers because we bring the old tin back to life. Best way to fight the EPA is to keep doing what we are doing. Fuck hippies. Fuck greenies too.

The first time I ever stepped into a voting both, albeit rather late, it was to cast my vote for H. Ross Perot. At the time the media mocked him endlessly and made fun of his charts and graphs and his references to that giant sucking sound (as jobs left this country). Problem was, he was mostly right. He knew it, as those of us who were paying attention and voted for him knew it too.

The credo in this house... we don't support Communist China. Buy American. And when you can't, buy used or repair/rebuild what you already own .

I'm sorry you feel that way. I'm very comfortable with my viewpoints and thought processes, I feel that blind patriotism and nationalism is a very big problem. Anyway, this site is about pre-64 cars, not new cars, so this whole argument is pretty much a moot point. I have my opinions, you have your opinions, and we are never going to change each others minds. Let's get back to old cars!

to give you a idea how cheap this stuff gets , i have a friend that owns a company that packages things, anything at all, he will make a package for it, rayovac calls him and ask how much to package a billion batteries, that right a billion 9 volt batteries, so he comes up with a price of 1/4 cent each, and rayovac says they can send then to china and have them done there and back for 1/8 of a cent each , just like my grandpaw always said the difference between right & wrong is which end of the check your on

Really? Looking out for the future of our country, our national security, trying to protect what generations before us fought so hard to gain, is now considered "blind patriotism and nationalism"?

    Bullsh!t.

I call it fighting back so that future generations will still have an America to live in, one that flies the Stars and Stripes and not a flag bearing a hammer and sickle.
